Membership Types
1. Corporate Members
Any financial institution admitted to membership at the discretion of Council. Corporate members assist in the funding of the Institute.
Currently the Institute corporate membership comprises of commercial and statutory banks namely Banc ABC, Bank Gaborone, Bank of Baroda, Bank of Botswana, State Bank of India, Absa Bank , Botswana Building Society, Botswana Savings Bank, First Capital Bank, First National Bank, National Development Bank, Stanbic Bank and Standard Chartered Bank.
2. Fellows (F.B.I.B.)
Fellowship is the highest grade of membership. Fellows shall be elected by Council, in recognition of their special contribution to the Institute.
3. Associates (A.B.I.B.)
People who may be admitted as Associates are:
Members who have completed their BIBF Associate Diploma II examinations
Those who have completed their Associateship examinations in banking with recognised institutes. In certain instances, applicants may be required to write a qualifying subject of the Institute’s choice.
Subscriptions fall due on January 1st each year.
4. Ordinary Membership
Ordinary membership is open to all staff of Corporate members (banks). Application for membership must be made on the forms provided by the Institute.

5. Affiliate Members
These are members not employed by any of the Corporate members. Membership is open to those interested in studying banking courses.
